Welcome Wilma

We have a new edition called wilma, she is 15 months and we are seeing how well she settles before we decide to keep her, she is being fostered by us at the moment.  Oscar is impressed but not when she nicks his toys.  Im knackered! 

Baby boxers...hopefully!

Oscar has had is first mating session today with a lovely brindle boxer called "Duce" she was so friendly.  Its started off with a fight but when Oscar soon realised she was in season he soon got on with it. Im very proud.  Just have to sit tight now and see if he was succesful.watch this space for pictures of pups!!!

Cake Day charity event for Children with Leukaemia.

I baked last night for our works cake day to raise money for "Children with Luekaemia"  this was my contribution!  Oscar barked all night cause he knew i had hid it from him.

camper van trip

We decided to have a trip out to Pugnys today with Oscar, he is feeling better and thought he may be ready for a good run around.  As you can see Oscar makes it obvious he is ready to go out in the camper.

He was naughty as usual running after all the dogs, me and simon looking like stupid owners calling him back, he took no notice at all.  He is such a happy chappy he just wants to play all the time.

Vets .......again

We thought Oscar was getting better and after getting home and playing with him for half hour he started being sick again. 

We decided it had been a week now and we better go (even though during the week i had found a tick on him and got it out and thought i could spare a trip to the vets).  Anyway, on the way to the vets simon just let it slip that our key for the rabbit house had gone missing and he thought Oscar may have it in his stomach...hence the being sick.  When we arrived at the vets Oscar entertained everyone as normal, howling and jumping up in the air wanting to play....he did not look like a sick dog at all .  All the ther dogs sat down with there owners Oscar wanted to sit on my knee, with me on the floor.

To cut a long story short (its always a long story with Oscar)  he has had injections for his swollen tummy and an examination and we are going back Friday to see if there is a key!!!!  He is not allowed to eat now how cruel did i feel just eating a slap up meal of beans on toast in front of him.

The vet said a key is not unusual, she had just removed a tea towel from another dog!!!!!

Tired Out

Oscar has been catching up on his sleep as he doesnt get enough..yeah right. He has also commondeared my dressing gown, he wont sleep without it. These pictures are this morning he would not get up for his walk and was making me late. Its a dogs life!

Oscar has been poorly all weekend, he has been sick and lethargic and i even missed the big brother final to nurse him!!! These photos show him being solemn right up to him being well and stupid eating my dressing gown!

Power Spray!

Simon got home from racing, as normal washes his bike in the field. Oscar decided to get in the way and try drink water from the power spray! What a nutty dog!

We have been to see two rescue boxer puppies today they where sweet but computers says no!

Shady

Had to drive my daughter to nottingham tonight and Oscar was not happy cause i sad i woould not take him cause it was too sunny in the car.....he then walked in looking like this!

Rasberry Vodka and night off from Oscar

Went to a friends last night for drinks and nibbles, i had my favorite drink rasberry vodka with tonic, a few fresh rasberries and some mint leaves absolutely delicious. Simon looked after Oscar as you can see he was very tired...Oscar that is!!

Dumb and Dumber

Tonight dumb and dumber are waiting for there indian takeaway. Oscar will be very happy when it arrives. Oscar has been naughty tonight he has been out with simon to the park and he ran away for a brief moment. He is now playing with his favorite soft toy jakey! named after a dog i know that is a darling but he does not like oscar so this his a replacement!

We have just been asking Simon about getting another dog but "computer says no"! Im going to a rescue on saturday to take some old towels and bedding for the poor little dogs that have no homes, im sure a little look won't harm.

This little piggy

We have two little guinea pigs next door (our other neighbours!) we are surrounded by animals its brill. They are called Pepsi (the dark coloured piggy) and we also have Spikey who is the guinea pig which Edward is holding! Edward is a little superstar we all think he is very funny and amuzing the way he puts his overalls on and walks around like a mechanic. He quietely speaks to Oscar when no one is around. Kids these days cannot keep themselves entertained but Edward can. We loved him from the minute we moved in!

Peeping toms!

Oscar has been waiting for his friends to peep over the fence, and here they are on the photo. Oscar has been charging around the garden showing off and teesing them! They are stood on the trampoline! Oscar is now flaked out on his beanbag its such a hard life being a dog.

clippers!

Tonight Oscar jumped up at me and really made a mark on my leg, its a bit too far up my leg to photograph!   As soon as i get the clippers out he barks and runs away.  I tried to coax him with treats, i even had Charlotte helping me but he was just going berserk!  Two toes nails later i ran out of steam.  Think i need a man on the job but Simon is racing!  Oscar is now flaked out on his beanbag its all too stressful!  

He has been at grandmas today apparently she was feeding him salmon, make no wonder he loves going there...don't we all!

Red Hot

Today i went shopping with my girls, we went to body shop and after a demonstration with a face mask i decided to make a purchase thinking this clay pack would do wonders to my ageing skin. Anyway...in the evening i decided to cover my face and clay and sit on the bed and wait for the magic to happen, I could have screamed, my face was red hot and i was thinking "no pain no gain". Oscar thought i was messing around and he jumped up and started licking my face.......oh dear. A few moments later after i noticed he had clay on his tongue and whiskers he started charging round the bedroom rubbing his face on the floor and going mad. I was half naked face, full of clay burning to death and trying to find wet wipes to cool us both down!

Usually sunday nights Oscar has his dental routine but i thought i better give it a miss seeing as he has had another ordeal. He hates his teeth being cleaned! Nothing worse than dog breath but at least he has a clean face!

Oscar has had a leisurly sunday. Up late, scrambled eggs for breakfast then another morning snooze!

Oscar likes to check out what Murphy is doing next door. He is a young black labrador who is growing fast and giving Oscar a run for his money. Oscar loves peering over the fence to see what he is up to (murphy has a trampoline i think Oscar is jealous!).

Simon has just got back from the park with him, he is still running round like a nutter though!

Balls!

Oscar has had his day with the cleaner today, no reports of anything bad from her so he must have been a good boy.  Well he has chewed two rugs this weeks so he probably thought i better behave!

Simon out in the field with him now...again trying to make him tired!  I brought him a new ball home today he was beside himself, thats is favorite thing in the whole word a squeaky toy that he can distroy in ten seconds! Once the squeak goes he does not like it.  Sounds a bit pointless doesn't it but it makes me happy to see his little face when i hold it up and squeak!!!!!

Day rover!

Oscar has been out to grandads today its a very strict regime when he goes there. I always have to take him for a poo first grandad has a poopy bag ready! Then we go in and usually Oscar goes wakes grandma up by lickin her face whilst she sleeps, grandad usually stands behind the door laughing and gran yells at him "grow up Jim" grandad replys "Neh lass its a bit late na, am 85!" Oscar likes a bit of banter first thing on a morning .

He loves going in the car so we went to pick grandma up from Auntie Audreys in Leeds. When we arrived oscar was staring into her immaculate garden I could tell he really wanted to go run wild! We brought gran home and called for chinese food on the way, Oscar always likes me to order him prawn crackers its the only treat he gets as he has such a bad digestive system and has to have special food.

He is out with Simon now having a run in the woods, lets hope its a long run so he falls asleep when he gets back! Oh its been a busy day for him today. Tomorrow the cleaner comes thats his favorite day of the week!

Time for a sleep

Oscar stayed with his great grandad today , grandma was away with her sister so Oscar knew he would get spoilt and even get to sleep with grandad on the sofa for a little while.
Grandad was busy in the kitchen, Oscar thought he would have a nosy around ..in the bedroom.
I had been out shopping for work and arrived to pick Oscar up, grandad was sat with a solemn face holding a medicine bottle, Oscar was waggin his tail and jumping up to greet me.

"Julie im afraid i have just found oscar with this bottle on his blanket, the top was off and im not sure if he has swallowed any of the pills!"

They where grandmas sleeping tablets. We never did find out how many he had had but the vet said if he has had more than a few he would have started to be drowsy by now. He certainly was not drowsy! Grandma was not amused when i called her, again grandad was in big trouble!!!

Bottle of wine anyone?

What a lovely day today, i nipped out to buy my favorite Rose wine (from Home Bargains, snip of a price). Charlotte incoveniently phoned me to pick her up from her exam at short notice...being a mum i left as quick as my legs would carry me.

Oh dear, the wines in the kitchen on the work top, im sure oscar will be fine he wont dare touch a bottle of wine...will he? I arrive home half hour later. Whats this? Oscar seems to be extra excited when i walk through the door, there is glass on the floor but no wine?

Oscar was drunk, i know the vets number off by heart now they advise a good meal and water and plenty of rest. 5 hours later oscar seems to be having his first hangover!

Happy Holidays...or maybe not.

Oscar does have normal days you know, but i do like to share the ones that stand out even if its not always good news. We had decided to book a lovely cottage away for the new year, Simon, kids and Oscar for a few days..how relaxing. Few days after christmas day the girs and i nipped out for a few hours to spend our christmas money. Oscar decided to help himself to a few eccles cakes that where in my work bag (how disgusting i had forgot they where there) Oscar must have smelt the festering. We arrived home to packaging in the living room and a very sheepish Oscar. Raisins cant do any harm can they?

It was not good news, apparently raisins can be extremely harmful to dogs. Oscar had to be taken to the vets for some rapid treatment. The vet called me in the evening to say that when he was sick he brought up not only lots of raisins but a celebrations chocolate box and wrappers and an apple core! Eh, where had they come from?

The holiday was off, Oscar was critical in the vets, it could have gone either way, we just had to wait. This had to be my worst new years eve ever, i was in bed for 11pm after waiting for the vets to call. I could not imagine my life without Oscar now, we where all terribly upset he was only 13 months old he was too young and lively for his life to just go because of some dried up grapes!

Oscar made a full recovery, i had pet insurance, all was well. No more chocolate or raisins or wine in the house! Well maybe no chocolate or raisins anyway.
